LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA
The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria began last Monday the conditioning of a park in the calle Franchy Roca in his corner with Fernando Guanarteme, in the neighbourhood of Santa Catalina.
Works of conditioning of this park on a plot of private property, which will be conducted in a period of approximately 14 days, consist of cleaning of the terrain and placement of security fences, as well as the removal of the remains of the previous buildings and installation of concrete for compacting the space tiles.
The project, financed by own municipal services, includes conversion of this public space in a place of leisure and relaxation for the citizens of the municipality, where areas of shade, reading and small corners landscaped spaces will be enabled. Until now, the solar – that takes several years for sale – was surrounded by a metal fencing that had several holes. It was usual until now, according to denounced the residents of the zone, as beggars and some addicts camping on the site which until a few years ago stood a two-storey building, of triangular plant which housed offices, and later, a restaurant and a pub.
Temporary assignment
This performance has been possible thanks to the fact that the month of July, the area of town planning adopted resolution of the agreement between the consistory and the owners of the solar de Franchy Roca for the assignment of the use of the same, which will allow the packaging of this space on a temporary basis. The agreement establishes that the owner can claim at any time the solar so that it is restored you if you find a buyer, by what the City Council should evict all fencing and furniture that is now installed.
The City Council aims to the creation of the network of urban gaps that will be installed by much of the municipality.
